The Garmin Astro 220 Dog Tracking GPS Bundle with DC40 Wireless Transmitter Collar is perfect for people who bring their animal companions to outdoor trips. This dog or cat tracker can even be used on multiple pets so long as each pet has a DC 40 collar.
This GPS pet tracking device may not be the best for small dog or cat breeds. It can be a bit big and bulky for smaller pets. The product’s dimensions are 12.5 x 4.5 x 12.2 inches. The unit itself only weighs 1.3 pounds, but with the additional accessories, the whole package weighs 6 pounds.
Made for the outdoors
This GPS tracking device is built to withstand the elements. It is rugged and sturdy. The unit itself has an IPX7 water proof exterior which makes it OK if one finds himself or herself in a downpour. The orange collar is made of polyurethane and it has a Velcro harness.

Software and connectivity

This battery operated GPS collar can update a pet’s location every 5, 10 or 30 seconds. The battery drains faster if it is set to every 5 seconds. To be safe, one can use 10 second intervals for the transmission and the battery can then last for two days or so.
The whole package includes the handheld device, collar, padded carrying case, AC adapter for DC40, vehicle adapter for DC 40, USB cable, wrist strap, belt clip, quick start manual and owner’s manual. It is a complete set. Optional long range antennas and collars are sold separately.
