Review
The RoamEO Pet Monitor System made by Pet Tronix is a basic solution for pets that tend to wander off on their own. It features an adjustable wireless transmitter collar that can be used for small or larger pets. This pet monitor is battery operated and it comes with the rechargeable batteries and charger.
This tracking device’s dimensions are 8.2 x 9.5 x 2.1 inches. It is fairly light weighing only 1.6 pounds. Through satellite and radio signals, any pet owner can monitor their pet’s movements. If needed, it can make it a lot easier to find the pet in case it does not go back on its own.
Easy to use
This dog or cat tracker is very easy to use. Basically, put the collar on the pet and turn the device on. This tracking device can monitor the pet’s movement within 500 acres. This means the device is ideally used for pets that do not really wander too far. This is also why it may not be the best choice for those who hunt with their dogs.
It is good for those who travel often with their pets. In some unfamiliar places, pets will simply get lost on their own. A pet monitor system like this product can make finding them much easier.
Good design
Aside from the adjustable collar, this pet tracker does not have an external antenna that can break if pets go under fences or other obstacles. The internal antenna makes it more convenient to bring along as well.
No additional fees
Another good thing about this dog or cat tracker is that it does not make use of cellular service. It also does not come with additional activation or monthly fees.
This is good for those who simply want to monitor their pet’s movements within the neighborhood. The transmission range is rather limited compared to more advanced GPS trackers. Be that as it may, it is a good pet monitoring system for pet owners who value their pets.
Bottom line
The RoamEO Pet Monitor System is a basic, reasonably priced and easy to use pet tracker. Its range may be limited, but it does not come with additional fees and even small pets can use it.

Review
The Garmin Astro 220 Dog Tracking GPS Bundle with DC40 Wireless Transmitter Collar is perfect for people who bring their animal companions to outdoor trips. This dog or cat tracker can even be used on multiple pets so long as each pet has a DC 40 collar.
This GPS pet tracking device may not be the best for small dog or cat breeds. It can be a bit big and bulky for smaller pets. The product’s dimensions are 12.5 x 4.5 x 12.2 inches. The unit itself only weighs 1.3 pounds, but with the additional accessories, the whole package weighs 6 pounds.
Made for the outdoors
This GPS tracking device is built to withstand the elements. It is rugged and sturdy. The unit itself has an IPX7 water proof exterior which makes it OK if one finds himself or herself in a downpour. The orange collar is made of polyurethane and it has a Velcro harness.
The device is also equipped with other features that can help anyone navigate in the wilderness. A barometric altimeter is included which can provide information on the elevation. The unit also has a compass for the direction.
Software and connectivity
The software that comes with the package may not be the best. Yet, it allows the user to store downloaded map detail. Maps with elevation information can also be downloaded and transferred to the unit.
Most users can make do without using the software. However, those who want to make the most out of their device can choose to make use of these other features. This GPS dog or cat tracker can be connected to a computer through a USB interface with the USB cable that it comes with.
Battery life
This GPS tracker needs two AAA batteries to work. Battery life will actually depend on the settings. The average battery life for this device is 24 hours. It is ideal to bring extra batteries for longer trips.
This battery operated GPS collar can update a pet’s location every 5, 10 or 30 seconds. The battery drains faster if it is set to every 5 seconds. To be safe, one can use 10 second intervals for the transmission and the battery can then last for two days or so.
The whole package includes the handheld device, collar, padded carrying case, AC adapter for DC40, vehicle adapter for DC 40, USB cable, wrist strap, belt clip, quick start manual and owner’s manual. It is a complete set. Optional long range antennas and collars are sold separately.
Bottom line
The Garmin Astro 220 Dog Tracking GPS Bundle with DC40 Wireless Transmitter Collar is made for the outdoors. It is durable and water resistant. Its price is a bit steep, but it includes a compass, altimeter and it can be used with multiple pets.

Review
The Global Pet Finder GPS Pet Tracker is the ideal device for pet parents who have pets that tend to wander off. Through using this GPS tracker, one can easily know the location of one’s pet at any time. This GPS cat tracker is ideally used for pets. Yet, some people can choose to use them for kids, seniors or anyone they care about.
This device makes use of three rechargeable AAA batteries which is included with the unit. The battery life is not good for those who plan to leave their pet for an extended period of time. At most, it can last for 24 hours. The battery charger, snap guard, quick start guide and user’s manual are included in the package.
Small and light
This GPS pet tracker is rather light and small. It only weighs 1 pound and its dimensions are 3.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 inches.
The device can be used for cats or dogs. However, for really small pets or toy dogs, this might not be the best device to use.
Virtual environment
This GPS pet tracker allows the user to create a virtual fence on their website. This is after paying for the one-time activation fee of $34.99. A monthly service charge also has to be paid to be able to get text message alerts for times when the pet goes beyond the virtual fence. The device can store up to five different virtual fences.
This device can also monitor the temperature of the pet’s environment. The user can then know if their pet is cold or hot. There are users that noticed the device has a problem keeping the satellite signal at times. This can result in inaccurate information and false alerts.
How to use it
It is quite simple to use this device. However, some people may have problems using the application on the website. The pet owner simply has to attach the unit to the snap guard. Make sure it is secure. Once attached, it can be slipped on the pet’s collar or harness.
The virtual fences are defined on the product’s website. Note that it does not necessarily have to be one’s exact address. As long as it covers the specific area one is interested in, the address itself is not that much of an issue.
Water resistant
This pet GPS tracker’s snap guard is water resistant, but the transmitter is not. Therefore, it is not totally water proof. This means that overnight condensation can actually damage the transmitter.
Bottom line
The Global Pet Finder GPS Pet Tracker is a light and small GPS pet tracking device. It may not be water proof or a long battery life, but if one does not mind the activation and monthly service fee, it can help make sure one’s pet is safe.
Loc8tor Pet Ultimate Wireless Pet Locator Review

Review
The Loc8tor Pet is a small and light wireless pet locator. This battery operated pet tracker can help pet owners locate their wandering pet. Cat owners may often encounter this. One does not have to lose their pet with this pet tracker. In addition, it makes finding one’s pet a lot easier.
This wireless pet locator is very light and small making it ideal for smaller pets. It can be used on practically any pet – dogs, cats, ferrets, tortoises and even chickens.
Range
This pet tracker can locate any pet within 400 feet when its battery is new. The signal tends to get weaker as the battery loses its power. It will also need a clear line of sight to work best.
This is not the best device to use if there are a lot of trees and walls in the area. The device works best in open fields or environments. When one does not instantly get a signal, it may mean having to re-register the tag to the handheld device or walk around until one gets a signal.
Ease of use
The splash proof case is made of silicon and it encases the transmitter. This case is then slipped on to the pet’s collar. The pet does not usually mind the weight of the device.
To locate one’s pet, one just has to turn the device on and press locate. As mentioned above, if it does not instantly get a signal, one can walk towards the direction of the strongest signal. The handheld device shows where it is strongest. Finding one’s pet is really easy using this tracking device.
Locate your pet
Even if the device works best with a clear line of sight, it still works past a few walls. At times, it can be difficult to read the display especially under direct sunlight. Some people can have a difficult time using this device because of this.
This device has turned out to be a good training device for some cat owners. After pressing the locate button, the pet tag beeps. Some cats have learned that their owners are looking for them when it beeps and they just run back home.
This pet tracker is a good device for home owners if their pet does not really stray too far. One can get rid of their “fear” whenever their pet leaves the house and even let their pet run free with the use of this device.
Bottom line
The Loc8tor Pet is the smallest and lightest on the market, water resistant and sold for a reasonable price but has a limited range of 400 ft and can be difficult to use.

Review
The Garmin 010-11049-00 Astro DC 30 Wireless Collar Transmitter is a completely redesigned wireless transmitter collar that can be used with the Astro 220 GPS handheld tracking device. It has greatly improved in terms of the design even if some users say that it is not as rugged.
This wireless transmitter is battery operated. Due to its size, it may not be used for smaller pets. The dimensions of the product are 8 x 2 x 8 inches and it weighs a pound.
Design changes
This wireless transmitter collar no longer makes use of Velcro for the harness. Many pet owners know that Velcro and pet hair was never really a good combination. This new collar is a lot better in that aspect.
Speaking of the new design, as opposed to the previous version, Garmin finally realized that the transmitted will never stay put and gravity will always pull it down. Knowing this, this new design has a flexible antenna that is meant to always stay upright. It is flexible so that pets can go through bushes and other obstacles and the antenna will not easily break.
When compared to older DC 20 radio telemetry collars, this may not be as rugged. However, it works and performs much better than the older models. This wireless transmitter now makes use of VHF frequencies. In addition, it has a 1 dB gain over the previous orange collars.
Keep track of multiple pets
Getting a DC 30 collar makes it possible for Astro 220 owners to bring more than one pet on a hunting trip or outdoor adventure. The Astro 220 handheld GPS tracker can keep track of multiple pets as long as they have a collar each.
Just like the older versions, this collar updates the pet’s position every 5, 10 or 30 seconds. Faster settings can drain the battery much faster. If the transmitter updated the dog’s position every 5 seconds, the battery can last up to 17 hours. At 30 seconds, it can work up to 36 hours.
Bottom line
The Garmin 010-11049-00 Astro DC 30 Wireless Collar Transmitter is an improved version of older Astro 220 collars. It has a better amplified and flexible antenna. Its battery may need to be charged for longer outdoor activities, but changing the transmission settings can make the battery life longer.
