| The RoamEO Pet Monitor System made by Pet Tronix is a basic battery operated pet tracking device. One good thing about it is that it can be used by smaller pets as well. The wireless transmitter collar that it comes with is adjustable. This pet monitor system's dimensions are 8.2 x 9.5 x 2.1 inches. It weighs 1.6 pounds. It may seem a bit big at the part that contains the battery, but smaller pets can still use it. Another good thing about this pet monitor is that it has an internal antenna. One does not have to fear the antenna breaking in case the pet goes to places where it can snag. For those who simply want to monitor their dog's activities in the neighborhood, this is a good pet tracker. It is not recommended for the outdoors due to the range. It can only transmit within 500 acres which isn't even one square mile. Even if its range is rather limited, this pet monitor is very easy to use. The used just has to put the collar on the pet, turn it on and they're good to go. It is very easy to use. The best thing about it is that it does not come with additional fees after purchase. Bottom line: The RoamEO Pet Monitor System is a basic, reasonably priced and easy to use pet tracker. Its range may be limited, but it does not come with additional fees and even small pets can use it.

| The Garmin Astro 220 Dog Tracking GPS Bundle with DC40 Wireless Transmitter Collar is ideal for pet owners who bring their pets along for outdoor activities like hiking, hunting or other such recreational activities. This dog or cat GPS tracker can handle multiple pets as long as they each have one DC 40 collar. This device is not ideal for smaller pets. It is not that small. This product's dimensions are 12.5 x 4.5 x 12.2 inches. The device itself weighs 1.3 pounds, but it is shipped with a weight of 6 pounds. The package includes the handheld Astro 220 GPS device, DC 40 GPS and wireless collar transmitter and other accessories. Aside from GPS tracking functions, this device also includes a compass and a barometric altimeter. Both of these additional features are great for outdoor adventures. The altimeter can provide information on the elevation and the compass for the direction. As a GPS enabled device, it has its usual limitations. At very high altitudes and when the satellites are close in the horizon, the device can be inaccurate. In severely dense forests, it can also lose the satellite signal. However, the unit itself is made for outdoor use. It is rugged and durable. Bottom line: The Garmin Astro 220 Dog Tracking GPS Bundle with DC40 Wireless Transmitter Collar is made for the outdoors. It is durable and water resistant. Its price is a bit steep, but it includes a compass, altimeter and it can be used with multiple pets.

| The Global Pet Finder GPS Pet Tracker makes use of 2-way wireless and GPS technology. This GPS tracker weighs only one pound and its dimensions are 3.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 inches. This battery operated device is ideally used for pets. However, some people also use it for kids or elders they care about. This GPS cat tracker comes with 3 rechargeable AAA batteries, battery charger, snap guard, quick start guide and user's manual. Anyone looking into getting this device should be aware that it will have monthly charges and a one-time activation fee of $34.99 after purchasing the unit. This GPS tracker is a very useful device for those who want to know where their pet is at any time. Upon activation, one can set virtual fences for their pets. An alert can even be sent as a text message to one's cellular phone when the pet goes beyond that virtual fence. The monthly service charge is required in order to have this feature. Some pet parents have noticed that the unit has problems locking on to the satellite signal at times. Another issue is that it is water resistant and not water proof. This means that the unit cannot really withstand getting wet. Bottom line: The Global Pet Finder GPS Pet Tracker is a light and small GPS pet tracking device. It may not be water proof or a long battery life, but if one does not mind the activation and monthly service fee, it can help make sure one's pet is safe.

| The Garmin 010-11049-00 Astro DC 30 Wireless Collar Transmitter is a better or an improved version of the older wireless transmitter collars used with the Astro 220 handheld GPS tracking device. This GPS wireless transmitter is now equipped with an amplified and flexible antenna that is redesigned to stay upright. The DC30 wireless collar transmitter is light. It only weighs 1 pound. Its product dimensions are 8 x 2 x 8 inches. Compared to the previous collars, the DC30 is color black and no longer makes use of Velcro. Velcro and dog hair never was the perfect combination to start with. This collar is a big improvement. Compared to the DC 20, some say this redesigned collar is not as rugged as older Radio Telemetry collars. However, a lot are satisfied with the product because it was also changed to make use of VHF frequencies. It also has a 1dB gain compared to the older wireless transmitter collar. The collar can be set to transmit every 5, 10 or 30 seconds. Setting it at 30 seconds can make the battery last much longer. At the fastest settings, setting it to transmit every 5 seconds, the battery can last for 17 hours. Bottom line: The Garmin 010-11049-00 Astro DC 30 Wireless Collar Transmitter is an improved version of older Astro 220 collars. It has a better amplified and flexible antenna. Its battery may need to be charged for longer outdoor activities, but changing the transmission settings can make the battery life longer.
